About This Collection
The New Zealand Journal of History is New Zealand's premier journal for academic writing on New Zealand history and includes contributions from New Zealand's most famous historians.
It has been published by the Department of History at the University of Auckland since 1967.
This online version of the New Zealand Journal of History was developed by staff from Digital Services at The University of Auckland Library.
The most recent two years of the New Zealand Journal of History are embargoed because they contribute significant revenue towards publication costs. All older material is now freely available from this website.
The collection will be of particular interest to historians in New Zealand and around the world, academics and students in related disciplines and New Zealanders generally.
The website can be found on the internet by searching for New Zealand Journal of History.

About This Project
PDF files for more recent issues were sourced from the publisher. Pre-2003 issues were scanned from print copies at the University of Auckland Library and converted to PDF using Adobe Acrobat and ABBYY Finereader software.
PDF files were scanned at 300 dpi.
Optical character recognition of the text is approximately 99.5% accurate.
A downloadable PDF file has been created for every article and review.
B-engine is the delivery software used for display, browse and search functions.
The text of all or some of the articles and reviews can be searched with the "Search" and "Advanced Search" functions. The collection can also be browsed by year.
Back-up copies of the New Zealand Journal of History are maintained to mitigate for possible disaster and to ensure business continuity.
The University of Auckland Library thanks the editorial board of the New Zealand Journal of History and the Department of History at the University of Auckland for permission to digitise this journal.
